The Role of Validators in Proof of Staking

Validators play a crucial role in the ecosystem of Proof of Staking (PoS), a consensus mechanism that L2 solutions, including Angularium, often rely on. In PoS, validators are responsible for processing transactions and creating new blocks through the staking of tokens as a form of security deposit. The likelihood of being chosen to validate transactions correlates with the amount of cryptocurrency a validator stakes; the more they stake, the higher their chances and the greater their responsibility towards the network's integrity. This mechanism not only secures the network by incentivizing honest participation but also offers a more energy-efficient alternative to the Proof of Work (PoW) model.
